Pink Sapphires: Pink is the color of romance and passion and is also the color of happiness. Pink sapphires are found in colors ranging from pale baby pink, rose pink, bubble gum, cotton candy, fuchsia, raspberry, hot pink to pinks with hints of lavender and peach. Light pink sapphires can even look like rare pink diamonds. Pink sapphires are by far the rarest of the pink gemstones. Our pink sapphires are hand picked for their exceptional color, clarity and overall appearance. Pink sapphires in sizes of up to 1 carat are fairly easy to find in all shapes, but in sizes over that, certain shapes are very rare. For example, one shape we will find very infrequently is the princess cut in sizes over 1.5 carats. The gem material is so valuable and cutting a princess cut stone leads to a lot of wasted material, so gem cutters simply do not cut large princess cut pink sapphires.

Enhancements: Once a sapphire is mined from the Earth, it is first cut into a shape that will best showcase the beauty of the stone. Nearly all sapphires are also heat treated to improve the clarity and sometimes enhance the color of the stones. Heat treatment is permanent and a standard acceptable practice in the fine jewelry industry. Less than 1% of sapphires used in jewelry are actually unheated.

Care of Sapphires: Be sure to clean your pink sapphire jewelry regularly, particularly if it ever starts to look dull. That would be a sign that dirt and grime has built up in and around the stones and setting. With regular cleaning, your jewelry will look as good in 10 or 20 years as it does today. Use a small soft-bristled brush and lukewarm water and brush the underside of the stones and around the setting. Rinse well. You can also use a air canister to quickly dry your piece so water spot don't have a chance to form.
