Policy Statement
MySapphireSource, along with the global diamond industry, has a zero-tolerance policy toward conflict diamonds.
Through measures such as the Kimberley Process, which tracks diamonds from mine to market, the industry, in partnership with the United Nations,
governments, and non-governmental organizations, polices diamond exports to prevent the trade of illegal diamonds.
Our Company only purchases
diamonds through the largest and most respected suppliers who, like us, proudly adhere to and enforce the standards established by the Kimberley Process.
All diamonds in our jewelry are warranted to be conflict free. If one of our suppliers was ever found to be in violation of that process, we would
immediately sever that relationship. We will continue to support and promote any process that works to uphold legitimacy in the diamond trade.
Education
Two important programs are in place to assure you that the diamonds we sell did not come from countries engaged in
conflict. The processes are (1) the Kimberley Process and (2) the System of Warranties.
Under the Kimberley Process, each shipment of rough diamonds exported across an international border is sealed in
tamper-resistant containers and must be accompanied by a government-validated certificate assuring that the diamonds are certified to be from sources that
are free from conflict. There are 69 countries that have implemented the principles of the Kimberley Process. Only diamonds from these countries may be
legally imported into the US. Diamonds which do not have the government-validated certificate are turned back or impounded by Customs.
The System of Warranties in turn requires that every time diamonds (rough, polished or in jewelry) change hands between
dealers, a guarantee that the diamonds are from legitimate sources must accompany the transaction. At MyJewelrySource, we participate in the System of
Warranties and continually ensure that the diamonds we purchase come with the warranty statement that they are conflict-free.
The diamond trade employs 10 million people directly and indirectly, including countries like Australia, Africa, Russia and Canada. The diamond trade also provides revenue that is critical to the economic
development and prosperity of diamond producing nations, especially those in Africa. Diamonds and diamond revenues are making a difference in Africa by
providing jobs, building hospitals and roads, and funding education.
